U.S. House, NY-17
I am a lifelong New Yorker and two-term New York State Senator in Westchester and the Bronx. In 2018, I defeated the powerful head of the IDC to put Democrats back in full control of New York’s State Senate, for the first time in 100 years.
As a State Senator, I led the charge in New York to pass some of the strongest legislation in the country to strengthen protections for survivors and holds employers accountable for addressing sexual misconduct. I championed the passage of the Healthy Terminals Act, giving tens of thousands of airport workers access to fair wages and affordable healthcare. Working with my colleagues we passed transformational legislation including tenant-centered housing reforms, the strongest climate change law in the country, unprecedented criminal justice reform, common sense gun safety legislation, and nursing home regulations that protect seniors.
We’ve made hard-won progress in Albany, and now it’s time to bring that same energy to Washington. NY-17 deserves an experienced progressive leader in Congress who isn’t afraid to hold powerful people accountable, and who will fight on behalf of hardworking New Yorkers every single day.
