Jonathan and his wife love living in Waterloo. It’s where they work and it’s where they have started their family. It’s where they want their daughter to grow up. But there are challenges that they, like many young families face– stagnant wages, limited opportunities, the rising cost of childcare, scarce city services, and outdated infrastructure. As a teacher, Jonathan hears from his former students who struggle to support themselves with minimum wage jobs; He hears from some who would love to come home after college but struggle to find career opportunities in their field.

Jonathan wants the children and future generations to live in a prosperous, equitable, and thriving community where their dreams have worth and possibilities are limitless. While the economic revitalization taking place downtown has made a lot progress, some families and small businesses are still left behind. But he firmly believes Waterloo can be a place for all people to thrive. And he wants to help make this happen. This is why he is running for Waterloo City Council Ward 2. He is running for city council to amplify the voices of everyday people in the halls of power where the decisions that impact them every day are made.
