Flint School Board
Put simply, Abel Delgado wants justice for Flint, Michigan. Raised in poverty by his single mother, Abel was tired of seeing the system fail his community time and time again. From the influx of gentrification that resulted in vanishing neighborhoods to the inconsistent, unreliable water supplies that plague Flint. Abel grew exhausted yet inspired by the systemic shortcomings and decided to take a stand.
Abel Delgado is running for school board because as a high school student, he saw that over 13 classes went without teachers for months. Additionally, the school district was on the brink of dissolution and privatization. Abel couldn’t stand idly by. Since then, he has advocated for prioritizing the grassroots needs of his community. Abel says that he is the one for the job because his these schools need someone who will openly fight against gentrification, privatization, and the school-to-prison pipeline. These communities need elected officials with the conviction to push for progressive values, and that just what Abel Delgado intends to do.
