Motivated by concern for the current state of our nation, Kelly Smith began her involvement in local government after the 2016 election. She saw an issue and decided to be an active part of the solution. Kelly has a background in children’s mental health, and land use/zoning and plans on using these to her advantage. Her platform is based on responsible development, economic diversity and the improvement of the quality of life for all, not just the rich. Kelly is fighting for the access to safe and affordable housing with inventory including options for the variety of income levels Pasco County serves. Through stronger labor unions, expanded apprenticeship programs, and diversification of industry to include clean energy and technology, Kelly plans to build up the local workforce.

Kelly is an adoptive parent and former foster parent with experience in the advocacy of children’s education and mental health. Her experience includes involvement in the Guardian ad Litem Program, the Pinellas/Pasco Heart Gallery, and she currently serves on the Pasco County Children’s Behavioral Health Collaborative. Further, Kelly has recently gotten involved in local politics and political activism through the Pasco Democratic Party and Women’s March Movement.
