North Carolina State House, District 9
Help elect Kris
Kris Rixon has always considered Pitt County his home. Kris was raised in Winterville and is a product of Pitt County Schools. He has dedicated himself to serving his community. As the son of a registered nurse, Kris has a deep understanding of the hard work that comes with serving others. In his time with Pitt County Public Schools, the North Carolina Community College System, and the University of North Carolina System, Kris has developed a deep appreciation for public education. Subsequently, his love of people and wanting to help others led him to pursue a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology, at East Carolina University; he graduated in May 2018. He had intended on attending graduate school in the Fall but stepped up to the plate when called on by the Democratic Party to run for office.
Kris believes that success begins with providing quality education, which starts with strong public schools. He is committed to reinvesting in public schools and educators to give young people the tools needed to succeed. Kris is a member of the LGBT community and is running against a candidate that has voted in favor of the discriminatory HB 2 bill and blocked Kris; who is a constituent from his facebook page. It is time that North Carolina prioritizes the needs of people, and not monetary interests. The people must hold Raleigh accountable; all while ensuring that it is investing at home and in in the future.
Kris Rixon knows the people of District 9 and is confident that he can represent his constituency, and be a responsible public servant, in Raleigh. It is time to build a stronger, better, and fairer North Carolina and bring back good government. Kris believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to go to college or university without having to adopt the crippling financial burden of student loans. He also understands that college is not for everyone, and believes that reinvesting in trade schools is critical in providing a path for every North Carolinian so that every person may have the opportunities and skills needed to contribute in a 21st-century economy.
