U.S. House of Representatives for Arizona's Seventh District
Ruben Gallego is running for re-election in Arizona’s 7th congressional district. Congressman Ruben Gallego is the son of Hispanic immigrants, a veteran, and a progressive leader. After serving in the Iraq War, Congressman Gallego began working as a progressive organizer in Arizona, later serving as state Representative. He was elected to Congress in 2014 and has since become one of the leading progressive voices in Congress.
He has spoken out loudly against Trump’s dangerous policies and rhetoric, scams and lies. When Trump issued the Muslim travel ban, Ruben was among protesters at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. As Vice-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Ruben has been committed to working both nationally and locally to advance progressive causes including protecting the Affordable Care Act, reducing economic inequality, protecting immigrant communities, fighting voter suppression, and promoting LGBTQ equality.
Congressman Gallego authored legislation to encourage gun dealers to be stronger community partners in the struggle against gun violence and to crack down on irresponsible gun dealers.
He serves as a Senior Whip for the Democratic Caucus, the Whip of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Vice Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, and Vice-Chair of the Equality Caucus. Congressman Gallego currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Natural Resources Committee.
Fighting on the front lines of the resistance, Ruben Gallego is the loud progressive voice we need to keep in Congress.
