Cynthia Gutierrez is the first Latina to run for any of the top three leadership positions in Berwyn. Cynthia Gutierrez is a lifelong Illinois resident who grew up in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood before moving to Cicero where she attended Mary Queen of Heaven and graduated from Morton East High School.
Proud of her heritage as a first-generation Latin American, Gutierrez has a strong sense of community demonstrated by her volunteer commitments. She uses her financial expertise for programs such as Tomorrow’s Promise and junior achievements, and she has taught numerous financial empowerment classes to audiences of diverse ages. Her passion is to inspire and empower her community. She was featured on the July 2016 edition of Chicago Crain’s Business magazine.
Gutierrez has worked in the financial service industry for 16 years. She was appointed assistant vice president of Fifth Third Bank in 2011. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and is currently working towards her MBA.
In addition to her financial expertise, Gutierrez is committed to public service through countless volunteer hours that include the Little League, St. Mary of Celle, Rogers Park Food Co-op and PAD’s emergency shelter. Currently, Cynthia is a member of Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) and BDC’s Women in Business group. She serves on the board for Our Lady of Tepeyac High School where she also mentors students. She is also a music minister for St. Mary of Celle where she has served for more than nine years.
