Who Am I?
I didn’t have a lot of breaks growing up. I came from a dysfunctional family and moved around a lot as a kid. Times were not easy. I was raised by a single father but I had the help of some wonderful mentors who I met over the years. What I learned is that anything is possible. Wisconsin has made it possible for a kid like me to get a fine education and live in a unique one of a kind city on the shores of Lake Michigan. I’ve been politically active since I was in elementary. I strongly believe in giving back to my community for what they have given me — a good education.
Why Am I Running?
I’m running for Wisconsin State Assembly because I think the 26th District would benefit from having a representative whose priorities are day-in and day-out: jobs, the economy, and standing up for working and middle-class families. I am optimistic about the future of this state.
I may not always have all the answers or solutions, but I will seek them out. With input and support, I am confident that we can identify problems that resonate throughout the State of Wisconsin and achieve viable solutions for them.
You can count on me to be a tireless leader to fight for jobs and stand up for middle class families, workers and small businesses. I know families are struggling to be heard, because there is an enormous disconnect between Wisconsinites and politicians in Madison.
Hold Me Accountable!
1. I support legislation that requires first time OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) offenders be required to install ignition interlock devices on all cars they drive for six months. We must send a clear and strong message to offenders that drinking while intoxicated will not tolerated. If elected, I will push for tougher legislation to reduce OWI in Wisconsin.
2. I understand the value that family farming brings to our food supply and quality of life. Wisconsin has been losing family farms since the 1990′s. Not only do small farms teach work ethics — they are also employers. Ninety-one percent of farms in the United States are considered “small family farms” with sales of less than $250,000 per year. These farms produce twenty-seven percent of United States agricultural output. I will be a voice for family farms in the 26th Assembly District and across the State of Wisconsin. I will support legislation that will level the playing field for Wisconsin’s small and medium-sized farmers.
My DFA values:
Like DFA, I strongly believe in community. I care about my neighbors and I believe we should all help each other, no matter what our differences are. I also believe in liberty. I respect every American's right to practice their own religion and to live a life free from bigotry, abuse, and harassment. As I was growing up, I was harassed for what I believed in.
My Campaign is People-Powered!
1. The campaign is seeking small donations (under $100) from supporters across Wisconsin and the United States. I believe small donations will power a people-powered grassroots campaign that is not funded by big money or the Public Election Fund, which I refuse to part take in.
2. I believe in door-to-door canvassing, speaking to voters face-to-face. I love to meet new people and speak to them. I have a small team of volunteers ready to walk door-to-door with me to gather signatures and support.
