Who Am I?

Dr. Vickie Barnett has been a resident of Arlington, Texas, for over 13 years. In gratitude for such a wonderful experience as a resident of the City of Arlington, Dr. Barnett seeks to give back to the community she dearly loves, by running for State Representative in 2012 for District 93.

The future of Tarrant County, Arlington, Grand Prarie and the surrounding communities is a concern for Dr. Barnett. She has worked diligently to make a better life for herself and her family and now intends to ensure that other families have the same prospects. Dr. Barnett has the personal and professional experience to make a difference as a State Representative.

As a graduate of DeVry University, Dr. Barnett earned a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Management, a Master’s degree in Project Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and a Doctoral degree in Educational leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Why Am I Running?

The issues before us are vast. On the state level, we can and must work to curb the excesses of government. We must also win back the battle of ideas, and this can be accomplished by fighting for hearts and minds on a local level. I am running to give people in my district good government. Now more than ever Texas needs leadership. The challenges we face are complex – too complex for short-sighted, band-aid fixes. I will offer proven leadership and vision focused on comprehensive solutions that will get Texas back on track.

Jobs Growth
Texas needs more jobs, a more varied mix of jobs, and better paying jobs. This goal is attainable, but only if our State fundamentally transforms its uncompetitive business climate.

Infrastructure
Transportation, technology, water systems and energy are all vital to commerce, which create jobs. In order to grow our economy, Texas infrastructure must be cost effective, reliable, and safe.

Educating our Children
Good schools are necessary for economic growth. Employers need qualified, competent employees. Universities providing advanced research and new technology are needed to insure Texas businesses and agriculture are successful in the world economy.

My Campaign is People-Powered!

The Vickie Barnett Campaign is people driven. Without devoted community volunteers there would be no campaign. Our volunteers come from all areas. They’ve organized house meetings across the district gaining the zeal, backing, and advice of citizens across Tarrant County. Each volunteer takes ownership when they join the Vickie Barnett Campaign through a myriad of leadership roles. For example, our team leads mentor and train new volunteers in conducting direct voter contact activities such as Phone Banks, Canvassing, and coordinating House Parties.
